Why Crossfit?

We know how it looks, and to anyone on the outside looking in, CrossFit seems terrifying and full of super sweaty, muscly people doing crazy things, but that’s not what its sole focus is.

The overall goal has always been health, longevity – a lifeboat in the fight against chronic and age-related disease.

Yes, there are some extremely strong and gifted people, but there are also very “normal” people who enjoy the benefits of CrossFit too. Just ask Steve, our oldest member at 65, to tell you just how scalable each movement is and we sure you’ll see things very differently. There is nothing wrong with being nervous, but there is no need to be afraid.

CrossFit was designed for everyone and anyone – regardless of age, shape, size, fit or experience.

What can I expect from each class?

Our Beginner Classes will help you get to grips with the fundamentals of CrossFit. It’s a full programme with weekly classes where you’ll be guided you through the various movements and ranges of motion.

Combining elements of Weightlifting, Gymnastics, and Endurance Sports our CrossFit classes consists of a skills element to improve power, strength and technique, and a conditioning element to improve athleticism, endurance and overall fitness. All sessions are high intensity and will focus on proper execution of all movements.

Equipped with a specialised Olympic Weightlifting area – Our weightlifting classes focus solely on teaching and perfecting the “big lifts.” The focus of this class is to develop explosive power and strength with the utmost importance placed on technique.

CrossFit is grueling, painstaking, frustrating and one of the most difficult things you’ll ever do. So much so, that once you’ve made it a part of your life you’ll never want to give it up. Progress beyond your expectations is just that addictive. 

I think what makes D6 so special, though, is that the coaches and community really are committed to inspiring, helping and pushing you to your limits. It’s unlike any other gym or fitness programme I’ve ever subscribed to. I’ve never felt any judgement for what level I’m at, and it’s clear that perfection isn’t the focus, improvement is.
